SO what do we all think about the furore surronding the BNP members list being leaked out???What is causing the unrest at the moment, is too much positive discrimination, at the expense of the majority, but it`s not extreme right policies of the BNP that we need, but common sense. which this government is seriously lacking in.

At the end of the day I would rather live in a peaceful world.............

EDIT - Link Removed - Please don't post the list on this forum

To be honest if you don't want people to know that you are a member of a certain group then there is generally a reason for that...if you support them you should have the balls to come out and support them in public.

I'm somewhere in the middle on this.

People have a right to privacy about their political affiliations.

Having said that, I'm not gonna shed any tears about these names being leaked, especially after so many instances of the home office leaking people's really sensitive personal info... NI numbers, bank accounts & addresses and stuff...

The BNP are a spent force anyway. They command nothing like the hard-line following they used to, and though they are the party of choice for some proper undesirables still, they are nothing more than symbolic these days. They don't have any voice, really. Not one that will be heard by anyone who matters, anyway. Much less any actual teeth.

true true......still but if you have a right to privacy, why does one need to hide it if you got nowt to hide??

You don't "need" to hide it... but it should be your choice whether and to whom you publicise information like that, nobody else's.

The right to privacy is the right to have and to make that choice for yourself.

I think the privacy gripe was more down to their phone numbers/kids details being on the list??

Couldn't have happened to nicer people though.

If it's common sense you're after then don't bother voting for any political party because you'll never find it. As for the list being leaked out. So what? It won't make any difference to people who believe in free speech.

What concerned me more wasn't the fact a policeman was named as a BNP member, but the revelation the police are not allowed to belong to the BNP! So they swear an oath of allegance to an unelected monarch, but they're not allowed to exercise their democratic right.  Errr ?

I thought being racist and sexist was a pre-requisit for joining the police force.

I guess the BNP must have the status of a "radical political organisation" or somesuch, which the vetting process will then flag up. Probably a throwback to the bad old days of idiots like the NF.

I'm all for those kind of security checks to be honest with you. Whether the BNP are appropriately classified in such systems is a different question.

    LOL

The members have been complaining that people have been intimidating them, talk about a taste of your own medicine, eh!!

Oh, and I love this from the BBC report:

In a statement on the party's website, Mr Griffin said he had lodged a complaint with Dyfed-Powys Police on the grounds that the publication breached human rights and data protection laws.

He told the BBC's Today programme the party would be using the Human Rights Act to try to protect the identities of its members, despite the BNP being against the European legislation.

Link removed from your first post vw4 - Please don't post links to the list. As much as it's up for debate it's still personal data and doesn't need to be aired via this forum.

So you phone up women that you've never met and make them cry. And you think that's funny?

There's a word for people like you. Tell you what, why don't you publish your name, address and phone number on these forums and well see how funny your family find it.
